At Le Pawsh, we are dedicated to the health and safety of your pup. Though frequently requested, we have not offered anal gland expression services. The reasoning behind this is the typical grooming method involves squeezing externally to express. This can lead to trauma, partial expression, and infection.

What are anal glands?

Every dog has small sacs located on either side of their anus. They produce a fluid that smells awful and is typically expressed when defecating. However, some dogs struggle with expression, resulting in fluid build-up, discomfort, and possible infection.

Does my dog need this service?

Signs your dog needs this service include scooting, licking, discomfort or difficulty defecating, discomfort when sitting, swelling around the anus, and if you notice a foul fishy odor.
